## 17. DRAGONLAND — COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (38:18): Cut.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (38:24): Excuse me. Beep beep, beep beep, coming through. People say over 6,000 guns in my name. Everything's legal with the right paperwork.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (38:35): Uh, well, my daughter does all the paperwork. I just buy everything. But, uh, being a Class 7 dealer— see, it goes from Class 1 to Class 7. Class 7 is the highest FFL license a citizen could obtain. So I reached that level.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (38:54): It's everything. I could call up today and get ten cases of dynamite delivered tomorrow morning.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (39:01): Yeah.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (39:04): Very important. You know, if we lose that, we lose everything. You know, even when I was young, my dad used to take me upstate New York, you know, hunting and stuff. And I really don't like killing animals, you know, but, you know, we target practice and all that.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (39:21): Well, they're really basically 98% all good people.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (39:51): Yeah, yeah, okay.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (40:05): How you doing there? Thanks for coming to see my military museum. I'm the Dragon Man. Probably going to take about two hours, so you guys are really going to get a lot of information, you know, if you listen up.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (40:16): Uh, yeah, nothing says Toys "R" Us. .78 caliber. That's a big slug.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (40:22): .58 caliber right here. Blunderbuss. And if that thing hits you, your head's coming off. This is the Enfield bolt-action. This is as close as you get to the gun that killed Lincoln.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (40:33): He died the next day, April 15th, 1865. Okay, guys, at least once a month, I like to tell people about Terry, my late wife. Uh, this is her memorial right here. In 2012, we were filming for the Discovery Channel. I was supposed to have my own show called Dragon Tales, you know, and the very last episode, all we had to do was hold the machine guns and walk through the smoke. And one of the smoke bombs took off and went right through her. She was right next to me, and she died right out here in the shooting range. And she really did a lot, you know, to get this museum going. So we don't want her to be forgotten. Her name was Terry Flanell. All right, thanks for listening. Okay, the next room here is World War I.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (42:34): Oh, yeah, yeah.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (42:35): Yeah, my pleasure.

**MEL BERNSTEIN** (42:36): Yeah, you're good guys.
