## 29. WHAT A BULLET DOES — BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

**DR JOSEPH SAKRAN** (1:10:49): These bullets tearing tissue, pulverizing bones, liquefying organs, they're doing tremendous damage to the human body. If you're in a boat, do you know the wake that you see behind the boat? There's that primary injury that happens from, physically, the fragment, but then there's this blast effect that happens. The faster the boat goes, the larger the wake. That wake, or that blast effect, causes destruction to tissue. So imagine if you have a kid, right, who has a small— right, we know they have small abdominal cavities. And they're shot in the abdomen with an assault rifle. It pulverizes tissue. I mean, it can blow off limbs, but they're also causing trauma that persists for many years.
